After Connie and Warren Muldoon lost their son in a motorcycle accident, they took in his dog, Dakota. Warren and Dakota formed a bond that was indescribable; the loss of James had brought them together.
James adopted Dakota when she was only 3-months old; she was named after the state of North Dakota which is where he was stationed in the Air Force. Sadly, James was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle and passed away in the hospital.
When the couple took the German Shepherd into their family, they all helped each other grieve and heal. But it was Warren and Dakota that truly leaned on one another.
The two were inseparable and would spend every moment together. One of their favorite bonding activities was going on long walks, runs, and hikes. Hiking to the summit of Mount Baldy was a common occurrence.
It didn’t matter what the season was or if it was raining or snowing, the two would still get outside and hike to the top of their favorite mountain. Every time, making their bond grow stronger.
However, during one hike in January — things didn’t go as well as they normally do. When they got to the top, they realized things weren’t right.
