Once it starts getting warmer owners of brachycephalic breeds of dogs such as Boxers, Pugs, Frenchies, Bulldogs, Boston Terriers and Shih Tzus are faced with a number of challenges. As these dogs have a short skull shape and nose their ability to breathe in air is reduced.
This causes them to overheat more easily compared to dogs with longer noses. In turn this makes them more vulnerable to heat related problems such as heat stroke. If not care could become life threatening.
So to make sure that you keep your beloved pooch safe this summer. Here we present a few tips you may find useful.
Provide Them With Plenty Of Fresh Clean Water
Always make sure that you provide your dog with plenty of cool clean fresh water to drink. If your boxer, pug etc. likes to spend time outdoors then make sure that they have enough water available to them there as well. But make sure the bowl with the water in it is kept in the shade this will ensure that the water remains cool. If you need to find something to use that will prevent it from turning over.
