Freestyle Heeling is where a dog stays in variations of the Heel position as its handler moves to music. It mostly involves pivots, diagonal and backwards and forwards moves, but the dog remains invisibly tethered in the Heel position the whole time.

Musical Freestyle is where a dog can perform lots of different kinds of tricks and other obedience talents. The dog might weave in and out of its trainer’s legs, or perform dramatic tricks such as spinning, rolling over or jumping, or simply dancing in place.

Here’s a great example of freestyle competition in action.

As you can see, this sport isn’t so much about fun and laughter as it is about hard work and discipline. Amazing work by these talented dogs!
